MUAR: Several roads and lanes in Muar will be upgraded this year with a RM6.1mil allocation from the Federal Government.
Muar municipal councillor Goh Kim Huat said most of the roads and lanes were in bad condition and needed to be resurfaced or widened.
“Residents have complained to us about the bad condition of roads in their area and something must be done to improve the roads for the comfort of motorists and residents,” he said.
Goh said roads which required upgrading works were Jalan Hashim, Jalan Khalidi, Jalan Parit Setonngkat, Jalan Majidi, Jalan Haji Abu, Jalan Keliling Stadium and Jalan Haji Omar. The lanes identified for upgrade were Lorong Abadi, Lorong Belia, Lorong Tahar Shariff, Lorong Sepakat off Jalan Khalidi and Jalan Junid, Lorong Perkasa and those at Taman Sri Unas Baru.
Goh said apart from roads, the drainage system along Lorong Wan Chik would also be upgraded at the cost of RM40,000.
